We know that so many of us aim for big goals focused around fitness and health and career and wealth, which are all amazing, but what about the skin you live in? Certainly, regular exercise and healthy eating will benefit your skin from the inside out, but let’s look at some small changes you can implement to make a big difference to your skin.

1: Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

Hydrating your skin is a goal that should be at the top of everyone’s list for skincare. Living in a drier climate, like Africa, makes your skin even likelier to be dry. Make moisturizing your skin a priority in 2022 no matter what your skin type is and apply it every morning and every night

2: Exfoliate Regularly

Like dust on a polished surface, old, dead skin cells can make even the dewiest skin look dull and decidedly un-lustrous. Exfoliating is the quickest and easiest way to brighten your skin. Just be sure to limit your exfoliation to a maximum of four times per week, even if you feel like your skin can handle it. Exfoliation also helps your skincare products absorb into the skin better, which means an extra boost of nutrients, hydration, and glow.

3: Take Sun Protection Seriously

It is easy to slack off on protecting your skin from the sun, especially when the weather gets cooler. However, you should be taking sun protection seriously regardless of the time of year. The weather does not have to be hot for the sun to damage your skin.

4: Give Yourself A Facial Massage.

Regular massaging, either with fingertips or a massage tool, helps to drain puffiness and toxins. Massaging your skin, even for just a few seconds, brings about more blood cells to the skin, more oxygen, and better absorption of products. Plus, it works to de-puff those inevitable tired, morning eyes with lymphatic drainage.

5: Have Mercy On Your Hands!

While the focus is usually on the face, it’s important to look after your hands and nails. Apart from the exposure to harsh ingredients and chemicals including hand sanitizers, disinfectants, and surfaces during the day, your hands also end up losing moisture and are often left dehydrated and dry with the change in season.

Last but not the least, make skincare a wellness ritual. To get a great night’s sleep, create an evening wind-down wellbeing ritual. Whether your normal go-to is a bath, book, or aromatherapy candle, spend some time nourishing skin with a complete range of skincare products. It can feel wonderfully relaxing and therapeutic and having a regular nightly skincare routine, will signal to your brain that it’s time for sleep.
